Bronzite
Bronzite is a semi-precious stone with a brown to golden hue, crossed with shimmering metallic reflections. It belongs to the pyroxene family, and its name comes from its "bronzed" appearance due to the presence of iron, which gives it its distinctive luster. Known since Antiquity, it was appreciated for its solidity, metallic sheen, and protective properties.
Origins and Formation
Bronzite is a magnesium and iron silicate, which forms in igneous and metamorphic rocks. It is often confused with enstatite, of which it is a ferriferous variety. Main deposits: Brazil, India, Austria, Norway, South Africa, United States.
History and Symbolism
Ancient civilizations: the Greeks and Romans used it to make talismans of courage and protection. It was attributed the power to repel curses and negative energies, particularly during conflicts or periods of instability. It was also considered a stone of justice, moral balance, and inner wisdom. Bronzite is today associated with inner strength, self-control, and emotional stability.
